The International Festival for Emerging Artists is an exciting and innovative project for UEL’s Institute for Performing Arts Development to be involved in. The aim of bringing together young artists from across the globe to work together in the changing climate and environment that is east London in 2008 chimes with IPAD’s ethos of addressing “the local and the global”. The IFEA focus on collaboration and the artistic process also aligns with IPAD’s continuing investigation of Practice as Research and the focus on practical and embodied knowledge and skills. With the advancement of globalisation and the growing awareness of the ecological impact and importance of contemporary arts practice, IFEA positions itself at the centre of these debates. UEL and IPAD are proud to be a part of what promised to be a dynamic and thought-provoking festival.
