Project Phakama
A collaborative arts organisation producing work based on the combined personal experiences of young people from all over the world. Working across the arts and in unconventional sites, Project Phakama enables young people to explore and test issues that are relevant to them. Project Phakama aims to produce high standards learning processes and performances that create life-changing experiences for artists and audiences alike that are raw, emotionally powerful and utterly indelible.
The IFEA commitment to invest in young artists in an international scale is at the heart of Phakama’s work. The festival will become a landmark on the cultural calendar in the UK and internationally. Phakama wants to give and gain from this project lending its experience in producing work with young people internationally, and learning from other partners. Working towards the Olympics in 2012, IFEA will help animate the debate around the Olympics’ cultural legacy. Phakama wants to participate and contribute to the most important event happening in this city, the 2012 Olympics.
