EWAN CAMERON
Scotland, 28
Identified by Aberdeen International Youth Festival
Ewan trained in Contemporary Theatre Practice at RSAMD. He devised his first professional solo show in partnership with the Tron Theatre, Glasgow and continues to develop this work through his own company Abderite, creating experimental solo performances, new writing for the stage and participatory children’s theatre productions. In 2006, Abderite was commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland to devise a piece of outdoor theatre as part of the project Home: Aberdeen. In the same year, Ewan was invited to direct a production in collaboration with dramaturge Sandy Thomson of Poorboy Theatre Company which was named Finding Aberdeen and performed at the 2006 AIYF festival. Ewan is now Poorboy’s Visiting Artist for 2008, enabling him to engage in new collaborations with visual and sound artists on site-specific and promenade theatre productions. Ewan’s other projects since graduating have included experimental performances for the Arches Theatre, Glasgow and new Theatre in Education projects for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire schools.
