Duncan joined Tears Group Kenya as a volunteer for the company’s Art and Theatre Programme in 2004. In the same year he trained as a playwright and director. In 2006, Duncan volunteered in a USAID funded project as a youth programme leader and trained in community theatre with Magnet Theatre. Last year, Duncan led 80 young community theatre performers in a work for Tears Group. Through Tears, he has also become a teacher trainer in puppetry. He is the reigning holder of the Best Actor Award at the Government of Kenya Festival and, in 2006, won the Best Narrator Award at the Festival of Music and Culture. Duncan is the Head of TAPEV’s training department and is now the creative director of TEARS groups Kenya, for whom he has directed many classical works including Oedipus Rex and several Shakespeare plays.
