Alice is a dancer, actor and musician. She is primarily experienced in traditional dance and is a member of the National Ballet of Rwanda. Alice has been affiliated with Butare’s Centre Universitaire des Arts (CUA) since its creation in 2000. In 2001, she toured with CUA’s landmark production Corps et Voix, Parole Rhizome, a piece that confronted Rwandan genocide. More recently, she performed in Iryo Nabonye, a commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the genocide. Alice is committed to promoting Rwandan women in the arts through the CUA’s ‘Women’s’ Initiative’, an undertaking that strives to break from such traditions as the prohibition of female drum players.
